Whoa, time does fly and yes I admit I sometimes forgot I have a blog here =D
I am not saying goodbye yet because I am still sometimes lurking here in vox still.
But yeah, I am no longer updating this journal regularly.
Instead, I am maintaining a deviant art account with username chocoloid.
See you guys around.
Have been to video store and they told you have something long long overdue and you went "Huh"?
That's what happened one hour ago and I am now so stress because of it. They told me I took out this Wii game called "No More Heroes" on 11th May and it's now 18 days overdue. They even showed me a picture of me supposedly taking it out. The problem is I never heard of this game in my life before. I don't own Nintendo Wii and I have not been borrowing anything from this video store for a long long time, at least 2 months. The picture they showed me of myself looks old because I have lost the hat I apparently wore in the photo.
Where's the logic in this? What could have had happened?
(1) Somebody hypnotized me and made me rent that game and he took off with the game
(2) I rented that game intended to play it at friend's place -- but the guys I normally play games with own PS3 and XBOX, not Wii...
(3) My bf made me rent it on behalf of him (to play at his friend's place) -- but he said he did not.
(4) Their system had a major error
(5) There's somewhat a conspiracy
(6) ...
The funny thing is that this happened before with a different video store. I have not been to the video store for like a year or so and out of the blue they called me up asking me for overdue game that I have never heard of.
I hate arguing with people especially on case like this where I cannot prove my innocence.
What would you do? Would you just pay up the fine and the lost game (that'll be like $AUD 130 at least because it's brand new)? Or refuse to pay up because you are innocent?
I'd like to find the truth of what actually happened. But how?
I am not naturally athletic person. I am your typical Asian nerd that got pick last into the sport team during high school. I remember I got pushed into swimming pool despite almost zero ability to swim. And it was by the school sport teacher!! Apparently it was the fastest way to learn to swim. I often pretended to forget to bring my swimsuit or sport clothes to avoid sport class. That's how much I hate sport/ exercise.
When I joined Fitness First the beginning of this year I wondered how long I would keep up. Exercising had always been in my NY resolution list for a long time. 4 years ago I was a member too and I went around 2x a month or something.
Lo and behold, it's been 5 months and I still go to gym 3 to 4 times a week. I wonder why I still exercise? After all I have not got any slimmer and the only thing missing was the little flab on tummy. What differs now? I think there are factors as following:
1. My gym is 3 min drive from my house. Previous gym was 30 min away. I think this is a huge factor.
2. I have more free time now compared with 4 years ago
3. I have exercise friends whom I often walk with and teaching me tennis every second weekend or so. Unlike my high school sport teacher, they are very encouraging (and forgiving). We are checking each other every now and then if anyone been slacking on their exercise =D
4. I watch Gossip Girl, American Idol, Skin, Top Model, etc in them gym because it's not available here on free tv in Australia (sad).
5. The dancing class in Fitness First is actually fun to do.
These external factor really counts. I mean if say they remove the Foxtel and put free tv instead I am sure I won't be running for 30min-1hr. Maybe 10 min then got too bored.
I read in Zen Habit that the secret of motivation is 1) make things enjoyable and 2) use positive public pressure. And it seems to work. Now, let's see if these can be applied to other area in our life.
So do you exercise? Do you have your own secret of motivation?
Jack is not only tortured by the bad guys but also the good guys. I really hate it when Jack got misunderstood/jailed/tortured/etc by the government personnel especially after he's done the country a favor. I got so pissed off many times watching 24 especially this season. Sigh.
PS: The 24 action figures were spotted in Malaysia.
I just found out about Susan Boyle. If you never heard of her before, check this out!
Read some interesting article about her performance too.
From The Age:
....
We love stories about battlers who make it against the odds and she's
the one who has broken through. A fairy tale for our times via YouTube.
But isn't she just the old freak show newly dressed? You also have to
ask just how manufactured is the phenomenon of Susan Boyle?
Those questions aside, will we still love her, weep for her when she has had her eyebrows plucked, her chin remodelled, her hair done by stylists and so on?
Well, if Susan Boyle continues to sing like that I am sure she'll be just fine =)
What things are in common between Bruce Lee and Stephen Chow? They are both Chinese descent. They are both widely popular. And my boyfriend loves these two so much.
Proof: My bf nicknamed himself "Little Dragon" (one of Lee's many nickname) and my boyfriend own every single Stephen Chow movie each watched on average 10 times. (Except CJ17, apparently too sad and not funny for bf taste) I did not like Kung Fu Hustle so much but my bf has watched it 11 times last time I counted. So in attempt to understand my bf better and to look for some sort of inspirations myself, I am listing some of their famous quotes here. =D
Bruce Lee (...copying the ones I like from Wikiquote source: here.... )
- All types of knowledge, ultimately self knowledge.
- Forget about winning and losing; forget about pride and pain. Let your opponent graze your skin and you smash into his flesh; let him smash into your flesh and you fracture his bones; let him fracture your bones and you take his life. Do not be concerned with escaping safely — lay your life before him.
- Be water, my friend.
- It is not how much fixed knowledge you can accumulate, but what you can apply livingly that counts.
- The meaning of life is that it is to be lived, and it is not to be traded and conceptualized and squeezed into a pattern of systems.
- The aphorism "as a man thinketh in his heart so is he" contains the secret of life. (from Proverb 23:7)
- If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made up of.
- Faith makes it possible to achieve that which man's mind can conceive and believe.
And so many other quotes.....
It totally worths my time to look him up! I am a fan now!
Stephen Chow movies
...... hehehe....funny but bf said I miss out because I don't understand Cantonese and the translation never does any justice.
And while I was youtube-ing, I found Stephen Chow reinterpretation of Bruce Lee's Fist of fury. =D
Dammit. I ended up watching lots of videos of Stephen Chow in youtube. Time to save this post and do some work.
Talking to customer service from telecommunication company always made me to be in bad mood. I was calling because the company was taking my $$$ again even though I asked them to disconnect my phone since March. I even got confirmation email and all that.
But nooooo....they made it really2x difficult to disconnect. Today the consultant said it's my fault to ask for disconnection on the end of my billing date instead of before the money was taken out. (Yeah, this telco company takes $$$ out from my bank account before the billing date. ) But the thing is this date was suggested by the consultant when we spoke in March. >_< &)**)&)A*
And all consultant sounds really annoyed the moment I said Hello. Come to think of it, they did not even say Hello. Grrrrr. I have to imagine they are having really low pay.
So tired of telecommunication company. All I can do now is complain in Whirlpool (Australian forum on telco company) but it will not change anything.
Sorry to complain here, but need to vent this anger out.
My brother just came back from his church camp. I asked how come camp finish so soon. The answer was shocking. His best friend died in his sleep in the camp. Cause unknown yet, but he's meant to be a healthy 24 years old boy. A good christian boy, with no known illness. It's so sad.
I remember my first encounter with friend's death was when I was 12. She was more like a rival than friend actually. She was in my girl's corp group and she hated my guts. She was competing with me for the leader position. I won. Then she stopped coming to practice. I thought it was because of this. But week later I found out she got dengue fever and passed away already. I still remember her name and what she looks like. Since then I don't like being a leader anymore.
The only definite things in life is actually death. We all are going to die at one point. And who knows when our number is up. I surely want to live for another 50 years at least but who knows? Life is so short. And death is actually what life is so precious. I do not want to waste time anymore. =(
I feel like calling my parents now ...
Anyway, happy Easter!
What? Don't leave! Actually I said I'd be leaving to pursue 'life' a bit more - but I don't see... read more
